{"id":234,"date":"2022-02-14T20:54:28","date_gmt":"2022-02-14T19:54:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/klapakastav.hr\/web\/?page_id=234"},"modified":"2022-02-14T21:09:57","modified_gmt":"2022-02-14T20:09:57","slug":"about-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/klapakastav.hr\/web\/about-us\/","title":{"rendered":"About Us"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"male-vocal-ensemble-klapa-kastav-kastav-croatia\">MALE VOCAL ENSEMBLE <em>KLAPA KASTAV<\/em> \u2013 KASTAV, CROATIA<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Kastav Kastav<\/em> was founded in June 1992 and since then has been continuously and committed to preserving the Croatian musical heritage. Many years of successful work are proven by numerous awards and prizes at home and abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Highlights are 1<sup>st<\/sup> prizes at the Festival of a cappella singing <em>Buzet \u201999<\/em> in Istra in years 1999, 2002, 2004, 2007 and 2011 which is the most successful participant of\u00a0 the above mentioned Festival. One of the biggest success so far achieved in 2002 participated at the <em>2<sup>nd<\/sup> World Choir Games Busan 2002<\/em>, in South Korea, where <em>Klapa Kastav<\/em> won the Gold medal in the category of <em>Folklore a cappella<\/em>, and the Silver medal in the category of <em>Male Chamber Choir<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Klapa Kastav<\/em> won also prizes at the <em>1<sup>st <\/sup>World Choir Games 2000 <\/em>in Linz, Austria (silver and bronze medal), at the <em>3<sup>rd<\/sup> World Choir Games 2004<\/em> in Bremen, Germany (silver and bronze medal), at the <em>7<sup>th<\/sup> World Choir Games 2012<\/em> in Cincinnati, USA (silver medal) and at the <em>10<sup>th<\/sup> World Choir Games 2018<\/em> in Tshwane, South Africa (silver medal). In 2010 <em>Klapa Kastav<\/em> won the 1<sup>st<\/sup> prize at <em>The American International Choral Festival \u2013 St. Louis \/ USA<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Klapa Kastav<\/em> made significant achievements and won valuable awards on the domestic and international music scene in recent years: the 1<sup>st<\/sup> prize at the 23<sup>rd<\/sup> Pop Music Festival <em>Melodije hrvatskog juga \u2013 Opuzen 2016<\/em> (Croatia), the 1<sup>st<\/sup> prizes in catergory <em>Folklore<\/em> at <em>11<sup>th<\/sup> International Choir Competition in St. Petersburg 2015<\/em> (Russia), 1<sup>st<\/sup> prizes at the <em>8<sup>th<\/sup> International Choir Competition in Grado 2016 <\/em>(Italy) and silver medal in catergory <em>Folklore a cappella<\/em> at the <em>3<sup>rd<\/sup> European Choir Games 2017<\/em> in Riga (Latvia). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The great international success of <em>Kastav Klapa<\/em> was realized at the beginning of May 2019 at the <em>9th Cornwall International Male Choral Festival<\/em>. Winning the 1<sup>st<\/sup> place in <em>40 Voices &amp; Under <\/em>category and, according to the international jury with the highest score of points compared to all the other choirs competed in all others competition categories, Klapa won the <em>Grand Prix<\/em> of the Festival and the title the <em>Champion Choir 2019<\/em> of the <em>Cornwall Choral Festival<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Until now <em>Klapa Kastav<\/em> was on tours in: Argentina, Austria, Brasil, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Malta, M\u00e9xico, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain United Kingdom and USA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Klapa notes point out that successful cooperation with many distinguished names in the Croatian music scene. In this sense, certainly the most significant project to date is a big benefit concert in the National Theater <em>Ivan pl. Zajc<\/em> in Rijeka in October 2004, where he appeared accompanied by <em>Rijeka Chamber Symphony Orchestra<\/em> directed by maestro Alan Bjelinski.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Until now <em>Klapa Kastav<\/em> has published six CDs and two DVD. In 1997 <em>Klapa Kastav<\/em> has published the first CD <em>Svojmu Gradu (To my Town)<\/em>, presenting the original folk songs of Istra and Northern Adriatic, some of them almost forgotten but some very popular and sung by the people of the area. In addition, the CD include also some author songs based on the local musical heritage and in local dialect. In 2001 <em>Klapa Kastav <\/em>has published the second CD <em>...u plavom beskraju... (...in blue endless...)<\/em> whit a cappella arrangements of Croatian pop music evergreens from 50's to 90's of the 20th century. The third CD and DVD <em>Iskre vremena <\/em>(<em>Sparks times<\/em>) was published in 2005 and represents the recording oft the humanitarian concert which has the same name. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Klapa Kastav<\/em> was nominated for the Croatian Music Award <em>Porin 2006<\/em> in category <em>The Best A Cappella Performance<\/em> with the song <em>'Vo je na\u0161a zemlja<\/em> (<em>This is our country<\/em>) recorded on the CD and DVD <em>Iskre vremena <\/em>(<em>Sparks times<\/em>) mentioned above. In 2010 <em>Klapa Kastav<\/em> published the fourth CD <em>'Vo je na\u0161a zemlja<\/em> (<em>This is our country<\/em>) dedicated to the Dalmatian musical heritage and with this CD was nominated for the Croatian Music Award <em>Porin 2011<\/em> in category <em>The Best Folklore Choral CD<\/em>. In 2017, <em>Klapa Kastav<\/em> has published its fifth CD <em>More, nebo, zemja<\/em> (<em>Sea, sky, homeland<\/em>) dedicated to vocal and instrumental songs inspired by the chakavian dialect lyrics of the Croatian Littoral and Istria, while at the end of 2018 has released the sixth CD <em>Live in Kastav<\/em>.
